Jan joined the WAGD Team in 2018 after retiring from her career as an Intellectual Property Paralegal. There’s a good chance you have talked to her on the phone or interacted with her in person as a front desk team member. However, her first experience with WAGD was in 2016 when she enrolled in her first manners class with Noelle, a toy poodle. This opened the door to a variety of dog sports. Neva, an Icelandic Sheepdog, joined Jan and Noelle, and their cats Gracie and Violet, in 2019. Noelle and Neva participate in a variety of classes and activities, both having achieved titles in rally, nose work and tricks. In addition, Neva achieved a conformation Grand Champion title and titles in barn hunt.
After graduating from Stephen F. Austin State University, Jan’s life included a border collie named Star. Recognizing the love, comfort and smiles that Star and other dogs brought to herself, friends and family members over the years sparked her initial interest in becoming a therapy dog team. She and Noelle achieved that goal and joined the Alliance of Therapy Dogs in 2019. They have visited a variety of facilities, and always look forward to their future visits and opportunities.
